The live Asian Handicap (in-play) is the handicap market applied while the match is already in progress, and it settles as if the score resets to 0-0 at the exact moment you place your bet, regardless of the previous result. If your bet is on the Asian Handicap before the match starts, see How Does Asian Handicap Work?, where the pre-match market is explained with its complete table of values.
Settlement Rule: Only What Happens After You Bet Counts
In live Asian Handicap, the bet focuses solely on what happens during the remainder of the match from the moment you place it, as if the score returned to 0-0. If you are at minute 48 with a score of 2-1 and place your bet, the market only considers goals scored after minute 48. When the bet shows the reference "Current result x-x", that score does not count for settlement: only subsequent goals are considered. In split lines, such as ±0.25 or ±0.75, your bet is split into two halves, so you can win, lose, or get back only half depending on the result of the remainder of the match.
Exception: Asian Over/Under Does Not Reset
The Asian Over/Under market is the only exception to the 0-0 reset rule: this market considers the total number of goals for the entire match, including those scored before placing the bet. Before confirming a live Asian Handicap bet, it is advisable to check whether the chosen market settles on the entire remainder of the match or only on a specific period, such as the first or second half, as the rules may vary depending on the period indicated in the market.
Example: Live Asian Handicap in Man Utd vs. Liverpool
Suppose a match between Man Utd and Liverpool is at minute 48 with a score of 2-1, and the following live Asian Handicap markets are offered, which will be settled on the remainder of the match (that is, from 0-0):
| Man Utd | Liverpool |
|---|---|
| 0.0 | 0.0 |
| −0.25 | +0.25 |
| +0.25 | −0.25 |
| −0.50 | +0.50 |
| +0.50 | −0.50 |
| −0.75 | +0.75 |
| +0.75 | −0.75 |
Below is how some of these bets would be settled depending on what happens after minute 48, in three different scenarios of the same match.
Scenario A: No More Goals (Final Score 2-1)
Since placing the live Asian Handicap bet, no more goals were scored, so the remainder of the match is equivalent to a 0-0 draw.
| Bet | Settled on 0-0 | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Man Utd 0.0 | Draw on zero line | Void (refund) |
| Man Utd +0.25 | Split between 0 and +0.5 | Partial win (half payout + half stake) |
| Man Utd −0.5 | Against on draw | Lose |
| Liverpool +0.75 | Split between +0.5 and +1 | Win |
Scenario B: Liverpool Scores (Final Score 2-2)
Since placing the bet, Liverpool scored a goal, so the remainder of the match equals an away win 0-1.
| Bet | Settled on 0-1 (away win) | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Man Utd 0.0 | Man Utd loses the remainder | Lose |
| Man Utd +0.25 | Does not cover the loss | Lose |
| Man Utd −0.5 | Against | Lose |
| Liverpool +0.75 | Wins the remainder by 1 | Win |
| Liverpool −0.75 | Wins by exactly 1 | Partial win (half payout + half stake) |
Scenario C: Man Utd Scores (Final Score 3-1)
Since placing the bet, Man Utd scored a goal, so the remainder of the match equals a home win 1-0.
| Bet | Settled on 1-0 (home win) | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Man Utd 0.0 | Man Utd wins the remainder | Win |
| Man Utd +0.25 | Wins by margin | Win |
| Man Utd −0.5 | Wins by 1 (greater than 0.5) | Win |
| Liverpool +0.75 | Loses by exactly 1 | Half stake refunded |
Changing Odds and Suspensions During the Match
Live Asian Handicap odds change minute by minute: when confirming your bet, the system may ask you to accept a new odd if it moved while you were deciding. During goals, penalties, cards, or VAR reviews, the market often pauses and does not accept bets for a few seconds. Additionally, there may be a brief delay between the match broadcast and what the system records, something to keep in mind when placing bets.
Relation to Cash Out
Many live Asian Handicap bets allow the use of Cash Out to close the bet before the match ends, securing a partial profit or limiting a loss depending on how the odds have moved, although its availability and value may not be offered at all times, as they depend on the state of the match.
